On the Musical Composition of Moving Images

During my Master’s studies in Art in Switzerland (2009–11), I fulfilled a long-held dream: the opportunity to work with moving images and to compose sounds, noises, and music specifically for them. Equipped with a Panasonic P2 camera and solid skills in Final Cut Pro, I set out on this path. Today, I am less often behind the camera and instead collaborate with young filmmakers such as Vincent Schläger.

My approach to moving images is a compositional one: working from the perspective of a musician while composing equally with auditory and visual material. Image and sound as two equally valid, yet autonomous dimensions within a shared space of fusion.
